After considering statements from the Hayward/Zhang and Bowman/Hysen campaigns, we have decided to endorse Johnny Bowman and Eric Hysen for Undergraduate Council President and Vice President. Both tickets bring strong UC experience to the candidacy, and George Hayward and Felix Zhang have demonstrated a record of success in their roles as student group leaders. However, we think that the Bowman/Hysen ticket best represents the progressive goals of PJA based on both their experience with SLAM and the Democrats, and on their commitment to preserve jobs through responsible budget cuts. The UC president and vice president serve as important liaisons to the University administration and can help advocate for changes in J-term and in arrangements for student groups. We believe that the Bowman/Hysen ticket will most effectively represent student interests in accomplishing these goals. We wish the Bowman/Hysen ticket the best of luck in the upcoming elections.
